This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains the terms and conditions governing payments, cancellations, amendments, and refunds for tours, safaris, and related travel services booked through Latirigi Tours.
By confirming a booking with us, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted this Policy in its entirety.
1. Scope of Policy
This policy applies to all bookings made directly with Latirigi Tours or through our authorized representatives. It covers:
Guided safaris, day tours, and package itineraries.
Accommodation reservations arranged by Latirigi Tours.
Domestic or regional transport included in a package.
Any add-on services (e.g., park entry fees, excursions, cultural activities).
It does not cover services you arrange independently (such as international flights, visas, or personal travel insurance).
2. Booking & Payment Terms
a) Deposits
A non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total trip cost is required to secure your booking.
Bookings are not confirmed until deposits have cleared into our account and a confirmation invoice is issued.
b) Final Payment
The remaining balance must be paid no later than 90 days before the scheduled departure date.
Bookings made within 90 days of departure require full payment at the time of booking.
c) Non-Payment
Failure to settle outstanding balances by the due date may result in cancellation of the booking, with applicable cancellation charges deducted.
3. Client Cancellations
Cancellations must be made in writing (email accepted) and acknowledged by Latirigi Tours. The following charges apply, calculated from the date we receive written notice:
More than 120 days before departure: Refund of deposit, less administrative and bank charges.
119 to 61 days before departure: 50% of the total tour cost forfeited.
60 to 31 days before departure: 80% of the total tour cost forfeited.
30 days or less before departure (including no-shows): 100% of the total tour cost forfeited.
Notes on Cancellations:
Unused services (e.g., meals, transfers, excursions, or early departures) are non-refundable.
Cancellations during the trip, regardless of cause, do not qualify for any refund.
Group bookings may be subject to stricter cancellation rules depending on partner contracts.
4. Company Cancellations & Force Majeure
Latirigi Tours reserves the right to cancel, alter, or postpone a trip due to:
Force majeure events (natural disasters, epidemics, government restrictions, strikes, civil unrest).
Safety or security concerns.
Circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
In such cases, clients will be offered one of the following options:
Transfer of payment to a future tour date.
Application of funds as credit toward a different tour.
A partial refund, subject to deductions for irrecoverable third-party costs already incurred (such as hotel bookings, park permits, or airline tickets).
Latirigi Tours is not liable for consequential losses, such as visa costs, international flights, vaccinations, or personal arrangements made outside the tour package.
5. Amendments & Rescheduling Requests
a) Amendments by Client
Requests to change dates, itineraries, or participant details must be submitted in writing.
Approval is subject to availability and may incur amendment fees or third-party charges.
b) Amendments by Company
Latirigi Tours may adjust itineraries due to local conditions, weather, park regulations, or supplier availability. In such cases:
Equivalent or higher-quality services will be provided where possible.
Adjustments do not entitle clients to refunds unless services are substantially different and cannot be substituted.
6. No-Shows, Early Departures & Unused Services
The following conditions apply strictly:
No-shows on the day of departure: No refund.
Early departures or failure to complete a tour: No refund.
Unused services (meals, excursions, accommodations, or transport): No refund or credit.
7. Refund Processing
Where refunds apply:
Refunds will be processed within 30 business days of receiving a valid cancellation request.
Refunds will be issued using the original method of payment (unless otherwise agreed).
Bank transfer fees, foreign exchange losses, and administrative charges will be deducted from the refund amount.
Refund amounts are calculated based on payments received in our account, not on amounts sent by the client.
8. Special Arrangements & Third-Party Services
Certain services arranged by Latirigi Tours are governed by third-party policies (e.g., airlines, hotels, government-issued permits). These are subject to stricter conditions:
Airline tickets are usually non-refundable and non-transferable.
Park fees and conservation levies are 100% non-refundable once issued.
Luxury lodges and seasonal accommodations may apply higher cancellation charges.
Latirigi Tours will communicate such conditions at the time of booking, but clients remain responsible for understanding these terms.
Failure to obtain travel insurance is at the traveler’s own risk. Latirigi Tours will not be liable for losses that could have been covered by such insurance.
10. Limitation of Liability
Latirigi Tours’ liability is limited to the value of the services purchased directly from us. We are not responsible for:
Losses arising from cancellations by third-party suppliers.
Personal injury, property loss, illness, or delays caused by airlines, hotels, or other providers.
Expenses incurred due to missed international flights, visa denials, or changes in personal circumstances.
11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
This Refund & Cancellation Policy shall be governed by the laws of Kenya. Any disputes arising from or related to this policy will be subject to the jurisdiction of Kenyan courts.
12. Acknowledgment of Terms
By booking a tour with Latirigi Tours, you:
Confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Accept that refunds are subject to the terms outlined herein.
Acknowledge that you are responsible for obtaining travel insurance to mitigate risks.
